Day-by-Day Itinerary
Fly in to Ulgii
You would get picked up at Ulgii airport by our English speaking guide and driver - would drive in to town for quick grocery store. We would drive to one of the most beautiful place in Western Mongolia. This is the region where the Khoton & Khurgan lakes are. We would stop by beautiful spots, to enjoy the view, to have break, to have lunch. Would pass through some high passes where you have chance to take landscape photos and get breathtaking view from up high. After a long yet a beautiful drive, we would get to Khoton lake area and set up our camp at lake shore, backed with beautiful snow caped mountain range which has the border line with China on top. Overnight in tent. Elevation: 2087m Driving distance: 180km (L, D)
Horse Trek at lake shore of Khoton
Are you ready for another adventurous day? Mongolian horses are easier to manage and ride. After a short riding instruction we would saddle up our horses and would ride towards Zagastai river through beautiful scenic route. We would have trail side pack lunch on the way. You would love this riding experience on these tiny Mongolian horses. On our way to return we would visit local nomad family in ger. Overnight in tent - BLD-
Short trek to Baga Turgen waterfall
We would move forward to a beautiful valley of Baga Turgen. it is a short drive from our camp. We would visit a historical site on the way then to Baga turgen parking area. Then we would hike to waterfall. It would be a great short hiking of 3 kms one way. The view of the valley it self is incredible with year around snow caped mountains, forest and a beautiful waterfall falling from approximately 15meters up high. After that we would drive further to our next camping spot. -BLD-
Drive to Altai base camp
After a big western style breakfast we would move towards northern end of the Altai Tavan Bogd National park. We would drive through high passes, will cross rivers and stop by interesting places such as White river. (We have given a name "Yak Milk" to this river) While we moving forward you would recognize that the terrain changes almost every hour. By end of the day we would get to Base camp of Tavan Bogd. Overnight in tent(B,L,D)
Trek and Climb to Malchin Peak
We would get up early at 5:30am and would have early breakfast. Then we would head up to Malchin peak. Malchin peak is one of the 5 peaks of Altai Tavan Bogd mountain with altitude of 4050meters from sea level. It takes 9-10 hours for us to get to top and back to our camp. The view is incredible!(B,L,D)
Visiting eagle hunter family
We would drive heading east to visit eagle hunter family. Mongolian nomad kazakhs are the one of the last tribes in the world that keep the eagle hunting culture more than 2 thousand years. We would visit and camp right next to Eagle hunter family. This would give us chance to observe and learn more about eagle hunting and nomad culture from up close (B,L,D)
Drive to Ulgii
After a great breakfast at our temporary camp, we would drive further and get to Ulgii by noon. You would get transferred to hotel and you would have some free time until dinner. This would allow you to visit local museum, black market and souvenir shop by your selves. After visiting many nomad families and getting know about local culture, it would be meaningful to visit local museum(B,L,D)
Departure to UB
We would pick up you at 6:30am from your hotel and you would get transferred to Ulgii airport. (B)
